Aaron Hernandez, killed himself in his prison cell Wednesday morning, used a bed sheet he tied to the prison bars of the window in his cell officials said.

Former New England Patriots tight end, a rising star who destroyed his career and  was convicted of murder in 2015, killed himself in his prison cell Wednesday morning, officials said.

Hernandez, was 27, was found hanging in his cell by corrections officers around 3:05 a.m. He was in a single cell at  Souza Baranowski Correctional Center, Massachusetts Department of Correction officials said in a statement.
